Nic at Night
My long and windy road through widowhood
Gratitude will get you everywhere
The Beginning...
When I lost my husband seven and a half years ago, I was numb. I was terrified of what was to become of my family. How would we, myself and my 3 children, then 12, 14, and 16 survive? How would I raise them alone? The immense pain and grief prompted me to write. I often woke at night or couldn't sleep, and from those sleepless nights, Nic at Night was birthed. I never planned on writing a blog or housing everything I post in one place; however, after much coaxing from family and friends, I decided to tidy things up and land what I wanted to share in one place. My hope is only that it inspires you to be grateful for the lives you have, whatever your road has been. My life is far from perfect, and my husband was far from perfect, but our journey, his life, and his death have taught me that love, gratitude, and forgiveness in life will get you everywhere.
What you will find here will be what I have shared in the past and hopefully more to come.
With love and gratitude,
Nic
About Me
Nicole Melamed
I was 45 years old when my husband died of a rare brain disease. At the time I was an elementary school teacher, raising three children and two dogs with my husband. I found solace in writing and soon after realized my writing was giving comfort to others. My children are now 24, 21, and 19. We continue to work through the pain of our loss and are all moving forward in our lives while continuing to honor my husband and their father.
